In the 1980s, he traveled north to Wuyi Mountain, where he studied tea under Yao Yueming and Chen Shusheng, both legendary tea masters. In 1986, he founded Hong Kong Hip Woo Tea House, and in 1988, he raised the purchase price of tea by 30% in Wuyi Mountain – an action that earned him the nickname “fool” among tea farmers. Throughout the 1990s, Hip Woo Tea House launched 12 different styles of golden packed commodity: “Jinling, Twelve Beauties of Main Register, is a tea product that comes in twelve different styles and flavors, each packaged in a golden container.” and became the general agent of Wuyishan Rock Tea General Factory in Hong Kong.

Wong Kam Chi has decades of outstanding performance in overseas trade, production, and acquisition of Wuyi rock Tea, Tie Guanyin, Fujian White Tea, Wuyi Black Tea, Sri Lankan Black Tea, and Pu’er Tea. Through friendly cooperation with well-known businesses and tea brands in Southeast Asian countries and regions such as Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan, he has created many famous legends in the tea industry.
